5 Subscription Services That Give You The Most Bang For Your Buck

If you’re like me, you’re addicted to subscription services! From getting makeup delivered every month to having whole foods delivered to your day every Saturday morning, these services seem so appetizing and make you want to try them all.

I think it all started with ShoeDazzle. Pay $30 a month and get a new pair of shoes every month. Then suddenly, all of these other boxes started emerging! I’ve tried a ton of them- From AdoreMe to Fabletics to Birchbox.

Here are the 5 subscription services I’ve found to be the most beneficial for me, that haven’t emptied my pockets. All of these services either offer monthly or every 90 day plans, with the option to cancel or suspend at any time.

1 Hubble Contacts

What it is: Hubble contacts is great if you’re as blind as a bat as I am and have to wear contacts to function. I love daily contacts (where you wear a fresh, new pair everyday) and this subscription service sends you a new box of 60 lenses (30 pairs) every month for $30. They do verify your prescription with your eye doctor on your first order and they do so pretty quickly.

What’s so cool about it: I love that they give you the option to change the frequency of delivery. So if you only want a new box once every 90 days, 15 days, whatever, they give you the option to do so! And rather than charging you $30/month, they charge you $30 every time they send out a new box. Frugalistas, this means when you’re on a budget and your money is funny, you can put a hault on the subscription for a bit without being charged until you’re ready to order the next box. I currently keep mine on once every 90 days, but I switch to sooner if I have the money and need to get a new box.

Seal the deal: Even better, the first box is FREE. All you pay is $3.00 shipping for your first box, so you can test the waters and see if these contacts are a good fit for you. Check them out at hubblecontacts.com

2. GetQuip

What it is: GetQuip is a toothbrush & toothpaste. I know, I know, you’re probably thinking, ‘really Asia, you have a subscription service for a toothbrush?’. And, YES, I do! Quip is great because it’s a sleek, electric toothbrush that comes in different colors like gold and rose gold(That’s how they got me, to be honest). Every three months, they send you a replacement brush head and a new tube of toothpaste. The toothbrushes range in price but start at one time price of $25, and the refill plan is $5 every three months.

What’s so cool about it: The goal of this system is to get us to brush our teeth better. There’s a timer that pulsates every 30 seconds to indicate when to switch quadrants in your mouth, and the toothbrush shuts off automatically after 2 minutes. They send you replacement brush heads every 3 months as well as a whole tube of toothpaste. You could even link it with your dentist (if they’re connected to this service), and the dentist can put in recommendations for brushing habits.

Seal the deal: No trying to remember when you bought your toothbrush or when it’s time to replace it. They do the math for you! Also, If you use my referral link, you’ll get your first refill free! Check it out! GetQuip!

3. Ipsy

What it is: Ipsy is a Makeup subscription! You put in your beauty preferences and they send you 5 brand name beauty products every month in a cute makeup bag for $10/month. I have tons of cute makeup bags and they are all thank to Ipsy! They send brands that I’ve never heard of and also popular brands like Urban Decay. While most times, what’s sent is usually sample size, sometimes they send full size items! Anywhere from highlighter, to hair spray, to nail polish to makeup brushes.

What’s so cool about it: Makeup is NOT cheap. We all hate when we spend $30 or $40 bucks on something new from Sephora and realize… it’s not what we thought it would be. I love that I can get samples sent to my door of new stuff because I can test them out without breaking the bank. Plus, you always have some backup mascara, eyeliner or whatever they send when your go-to’s run low! Plus, when you write reviews on the makeup, you score points. The points can be used to purchase full sized items from ipsy or get coupons from brands like Smashbox.

Seal the deal: A makeup bag with five beauty products every month, delivered to your door in a pretty pink, shiny package is always something to smile about! So what are you waiting for?! Check them out at ipsy.com!

4. Bulubox

bulu

What it is: This is for all you health and fitness buffs! Bulubox is a “health, nutrition and weight loss discovery box”. You pick the type of box you want, and for $10/month you get 5 different brand name health products to sample. Products can be new granola bars, pre-workouts to try, healthy teas, protein shakes, green smoothie mixes, you name it!

What’s so cool about it: If you’ve ever been to any GNC or Vitamin Shoppe than you know that supplements are not cheap. If you want to try something, they don’t always have a sample. You could end up paying $50 for a pre-workout that tastes like a combination of dirt and Robitussin. This box allows you to sample new products that fit your goals and determine if you want to purchase the full size version. Like ipsy, you get points when you review products. These points can be used to purchase products or to get discounts on products sold on their website.

Seal the deal: Unfortunately, Bulubox doesn’t have any special offers for signing up. But they’re only $10/month and definitely worth trying out! If you don’t like it, you can always cancel or suspend your subscription at any time! Check them out! Bulubox.com

5. Instacart

What it is: Instacart is a grocery delivery service. You can either use the app or the website. I pay $14.99/month to have groceries delivered from various grocery stores without paying a delivery fee for every order.  *Note: this service may not be available everywhere. I live in DC, so options for this app may vary*

What’s so cool about it: Instacart in my area allows me to order from WholeFoods, Safeway, Giant, Shoppers, H Mart, PetsMart and even Costco! You can even have the personal shoppers go to multiple grocery stores in one trip for you! If you want all your produce from Whole Foods, but everything else from Giant, they’ll do it for you! They offer delivery to your door in as little as 2 hours! The app alerts you when the person starts shopping, alerts you if what you wanted is not available and asks you what you want instead, and lets you track the driver on the map! Having groceries delivered helps me stay in my budget. I’m definitely one of those ‘I didn’t want it until I saw it’ type of people in the grocery store. My $50 budget can end up being $100 real quick. With online grocery shopping, I’m able to keep track of what i’m spending and reevaluate my cart to stay within my budget.

Seal the deal: The subscription (called Instacart Express) is $14.99/month BUT – you don’t even have to subscribe. Each store has a different minimum purchase (usually about $10 minimum) and different delivery prices (usually around $8-$12). You can order without having a subscription. But if you know you plan on doing multiple orders in a month, the subscription is the best bet. Even better, your first order is FREE shipping and $10 OFF your order! And, if you’re interested in the subscription service, they let you try it free for 14 days. So what are you waiting for? Try it out here!

Have you used any of these before? Do you use any other awesome subscriptions? Let me know what you use in the comments!
